FAQ
(Please note, all training courses and expeditions have a zero-tolerance rule on alcohol and drug misuse. Anyone found breaking this rule will not attend any future courses).
1. Is C2R open to both current and ex-serving members of the forces?
Yes, both serving and ex-serving members are very welcome to attend the C2R courses.
2. Can civilians with no military service join C2R?
Unfortunately not, C2R is a charity that supports service personnel and veterans who have sustained physical or mental injuries due to the unique pressures of military service.
3. If camping do I have to provide my own tent and all the necessary equipment?
C2R utilise shared group accommodation on the majority of our trips; campsites are occasionally used depending on accommodation availability and the event taking place. C2R will endeavour to help with the loaning of tents and sleeping mats for any participants who don’t have their own. Please make us aware of your requirements should this scenario happen.
4. Do I have to provide my own cooking equipment and food?
Food and drinks will be provided throughout the course by C2R. Supplies will be made available for you to prepare your own breakfast and packed lunches, and snacks such as crisps and granola-type bars will also be available. A hot cooked meal will be provided each evening (everyone is encouraged to help out with this task, should you wish to do so). If you have any specific dietary requirements please let us know. We do ask, that you bring your own knife, fork, spoon, mug, and plate.
5. I have no climbing experience at all, can I still take part in C2R activities?
C2R along with ‘Adventure Expertise’ have specifically designed the training to cater for all levels of competence. Your training will be tailored to suit your ability and experience. If you are willing and able, C2R will gladly guide you through climbing instruction from novice up to competent Rock Climbing Instructor (RCI) and beyond.
6. I am taking medication, can I take part in C2R activities?
This is dependent upon what you are taking, the frequency you take it, and any specific storage requirements. Please be as thorough with these details in the New Joiner forms so C2R can decide upon your involvement.
7. Do I need to bring my own climbing equipment?
C2R will provide all climbing and safety equipment for the course alongside instruction on how to use the equipment safely.
8. Do I need to make my own transport arrangements to attend a C2R course?
Yes, it is the individual’s responsibility to make it on time to the training location unless otherwise specified by a member of staff. If this is not an option for you then raise it at the start and we will endeavour to help where we can.
