FAQs

(Please note, all training courses and expeditions have a zero-tolerance rule on alcohol and drug misuse. Anyone found breaking this rule will not attend any future courses).

1.      Who does Climb 2 Recovery support, and who is eligible to become a member of the charity?

Climb 2 Recovery is dedicated to supporting individuals who are currently serving or have previously served in the UK Armed Forces. Membership is open to those within the military community who meet this criteria, ensuring our services and programs are tailored to the unique challenges faced by service personnel and veterans. Our goal is to provide targeted support, fostering recovery, resilience, and connection among those who have dedicated themselves to serving their country. Is C2R open to both current and ex-serving members of the forces?

 2.       Can civilians with no military service join C2R?

Unfortunately, no. Climb 2 Recovery is a charity specifically dedicated to supporting service personnel and veterans who have experienced physical or mental injuries as a result of the unique challenges and demands of military service.

3.       If camping do I have to provide my own tent and all the necessary equipment?

Climb 2 Recovery primarily provides shared group accommodation for most of our trips. In some cases, campsites may be used, depending on the type of event and accommodation availability. For participants who don’t have their own tents or sleeping mats, we will do our best to assist with loans of the necessary equipment. If this situation applies to you, please let us know your requirements in advance so we can help.

4.       Do I have to provide my own cooking equipment and food?

Climb 2 Recovery will provide food and drinks throughout the course. Supplies will be available for participants to prepare their own breakfasts and packed lunches, along with snacks such as crisps and granola bars. Each evening, a hot cooked meal will be provided, and participants are welcome to assist with meal preparation if they wish.

If you have specific dietary requirements, please inform us in advance so we can accommodate your needs. We kindly ask that you bring your own cutlery (knife, fork, and spoon), along with a mug and plate.

5.       I have no climbing experience at all, can I still take part in C2R activities?

Climb 2 Recovery, in partnership with ‘Adventure Expertise,’ has designed the training to accommodate all levels of ability and experience. The program is tailored to meet your individual skill level, ensuring you feel supported and challenged at every step. Whether you’re a complete beginner or looking to advance your skills, C2R is here to guide you. For those who are eager and capable, we can provide climbing instruction that progresses from novice level all the way to achieving the Rock Climbing Instructor (RCI) qualification and beyond.

6.       I am taking medication, can I take part in C2R activities?

This depends on the type of medication you are taking, how often you take it, and any specific storage requirements. Please provide detailed information about this in the New Joiner forms so Climb 2 Recovery can assess your participation accordingly.

7.       Do I need to bring my own climbing equipment?

C2R will provide all climbing and safety equipment for the course alongside instruction on how to use the equipment safely.

8.       Do I need to make my own transport arrangements to attend a C2R course?

Yes, it is the individual’s responsibility to arrive on time at the training location, unless otherwise directed by a staff member. If arriving on time is not possible for you, please let us know at the outset, and we will do our best to assist where we can.
